I'm looking at using GameMaker! It's free and seems simple enough to figure out, I don't want to touch Unreal again if I don't have to >w<;

Oh sick! Itβs been awhile, but Iβve worked with it! I remember enjoying it
I wanted to make an RPG myself, and used Game Maker Studio 2 for it, but it never took off

I got a good chunk of art/backend code, but you canβt make an RPG without a story..

I'm liking the style!! It is very cute and charming, especially the player character!
I see what I believe may be some hazard/danger blocks, like the dynamite perhaps? What would their effect be during gameplay?
(I ask for the dynamite but also any other Danger Elements you may be considering

)

So the Boom Barrel is going to be a puzzle element more than a hazard! Being a weak little kobold, you can only push a certain number of times before you get tired and have to restart, but if you push the boom barrel next to the box and light it, it LAUNCHES the box in a straight line until it hits something!!! The player will have to decide between using their pushes to push the boom barrel or the box, with the boom barrel being needed sometimes to push the box long distances!!!

Honestly if anyone ever is looking for story ideas, I *really* love making stories with people, I would be honored to help generate ideas!!!

OOOHHH I see!! That's really interesting, I can already imagine some ways it may get used in puzzles.
Are there more puzzle elements you were thinking of?

I was thinking of having food items too that would give the player more pushes! For longer levels, you'd have to figure out how to most efficiently move the box to the end, but /also/ reveal one of the food items so you can have enough pushes to do so!
There's also going to be a little mini-game where when you pick up the yummy gem/rock, you use WASD to move the hand holding it, and press the spacebar to take a big bite out of it (proof of concept below!)

any more minigames in mind? This one already sounds so silly i love it x)
